DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in EMC Data Protection
Advisor, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to a NULL pointer dereference error
in the DPA Controller service when handling certain authentication
packets. This can be exploited to cause the service to crash via a
specially crafted packet sent to TCP port 3916.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.8.1 Build 5991. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted hosts only.
